About GreaterDzine.

I am an independent freelancer who works out of my home. I have spent the last 4+ years working in web design and development. I am self taught, and the internet has been my primary learning tool. I have a background in computer tech. support and troubleshooting and am a "natural" with most anything that can be done on a computer. I have been A+ and Net + certified years ago, and do local computer repair on the side. A favorite hobby of mine is building computer systems from hand selected parts.

I have a growing family — a wife and three young ones. I started this business to be able to work from home and be close to them. I wanted to watch my children grow up and be a part of their daily lives. Although I have not yet reached the potential level of expertise I want to be at, I am continually striving to learn more, and I enjoy what I am doing.

One of the more enjoyable aspects of my work is when I can take a website in need of serious help and turn it into a positive online presence for the client. Many of the millions of sites out there on the web are dated looking with poor SEO. Updating these sites with modern functionality, speeding up page loading, and organizing content produces a greatly improved web presence that is “usable” to the client’s targeted audience.

No doubt it is encouraging to receive the positive reaction once a site has experienced a turn around from such a makeover. The benefit of design layout changes, with serious thought to arrangement of content and site navigation can do wonders for increasing visitor retention and consumption of the website content.

Many people start off on the web with a website they create through automated software that requires little to no skill at website development and design. Often these applications generate poorly coded html pages that can have a negative impact on search engine rankings. The web is still full of sites with poor design and even worse, little thought to how a visitor will interact with the content. So many sites fail when it comes to adequate thought to content organization and presentation.

It is really a personal pleasure and goal of mine to turn sites around from being overlooked and ignored to ones of impact.
